His mother left his family business to him to go travel the world, because she couldn’t deal with his father’s death. The scar in his face is from a robbery gone wrong where he got stabbed and had to spend a few weeks in the hospital. His boyfriend at the time, Naoto, read a lot of stories to him during his stay. Years later, Shiki did the same for him when Naoto was dying from leukemia. After Naoto’s death, Shiki kept to himself as much as possible and isolated himself from the world, only interacting with his cats outside from work. He has a habit of rescuing strays off the streets, taking care of them and either keeping or finding them new homes. 2 years after Naoto’s death, Shiki met Itoe and developed feelings for him against his own will. Even though he didn’t want to have any deeper relationship with people anymore, Itoe made his way into Shiki’s heart. Shiki secretly refers to Itoe as his stray/kitty he basically rescued him from the streets as well.
